本当は、こんなに長いセリフだったりする。
１については、例えば、オセロの言及したbusiness、イアーゴ―の言及したmilitary experience、デズモデーナの言及したloveである。
２について言えば、例えば、オセロはデスモデーナに"O my fair warrior!"（第二幕第一場）と呼びかけている。
もうひとつ気になっていることがあって、イアーゴーがユダヤ人であったかどうかである。
『オセロ』の半世紀以上前に、ルターが『イエス・キリストがユダヤ人と生まれたことについて』（1523年）、『ユダヤ人とそのいつわりについて』（1543年）を書いている。
イアーゴーの人物造形が、（キリスト教原理主義的に見た）ユダヤ人的なのか、マグリブ商人的なのか、ギリシャ的なのか、そのイメージの混成なのか、劇作上のよくある人物造形でユダヤ人と特に関係がないのか、よくわからないのである。
ソクラテスの「問答」に対しては、ユダヤ人に「対話」がある。
このことが『ヴェニスの商人』（1594-1597）よりも或いは陰影を深くしているのではないかと思えてくる（『ヴェニスの商人』—の解釈—で語られるステレオタイプはどのようなものであったか）。
